I really am mystified by Christmas season here in the north. The short video I made I think encompasses the mood in general. There’s the smell of orange and cinnamon in the air accompanied by the dark and harshly cold Scandinavian winter. The combination may sound ironic (specially to those who are not a big fan of winter), but what’s so special about it is the contrasting coziness of it all. I find that although I could barely feel my fingertips and the strong winds had made my skin so dry you can grow a cactus on my face — inside, I am all warm and fuzzy.
I presume it’s brought about the soothing music played on a violin and those dainty Christmas ornaments that lit up every corner of Denmark’s frosted streets.
It’s charming in every way possible…
Winter will always be my favorite of seasons, for many reasons such as this.
